It has become something of a tradition. Every spring, a bunch of volunteers combine efforts to clear the South Yuba trail of poison oak, downed trees, fallen boulders and the like. This year is no exception. Mike Haire, PJ Madigan, Dave Lawell, George Maier and others are in the process of clearing this trail for 2009. If you see these folks around town, please thank them. The South Yuba is in a remote area and sees little maintenance from government agencies. Poison oak can be nightmarish in the canyon if it is not pared back and obstacles can block or damage the trail for months or years without the aid of these volunteers. Thanks!
